Pilates uses a range of slow & controlled, flowing movements that have been scientifically designed to work each of the major (abdominal muscles, lower back, hips and glutes) and deep (your core) stabiliser muscle groups from every direction - sitting, lying and standing – with each movement sequenced in such a way that results are achieved faster and safer than alternative exercise methods.

Through functional movement patterns that work your body on every movement plane, your muscles are developed more evenly promoting proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance which all combine to improve your body’s stability, flexibility and strength. Pilates will have you working muscles you didn’t even realise you had.

At One Body Exercise Physiology & Pilates Studio we prioritize quality over quantity working to the idea that that by performing each movement with precision and focusing on your technique and breathing, your workout is more focused and your movements more concentrated. It’s a therapeutic exercise that works both your mind and your body.

So, while your Pilates workout may not be as intense as a High Impact Interval Training (HIIT) session, you can be guaranteed your body and mind are working harder meaning you’ll see changes in your strength, flexibility and mobility more rapidly than with alternative methods of exercise.
